AIMING TO IMPROVE SEWERAGE NETWORK PERFORMANCE
MURAD INSPECTS THE UPGRADE OF D8A/D8B PUMPING STATIONS IN NUWAIDRAT

Sanitary Engineering Planning & Projects Directorate at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Asma Murad visited the D8A/D8B pumping Stations in Nuwaidrat to inspect work progress, which is now 60% complete.

Murad explained that the project aims to improve the performance of the sewerage network and ensure its sustainability. She also stated that regular maintenance to sewerage plants increases their operational competency and reduces defects; therefore limiting sewerage floods resulting from pump faults that could occur in some areas.

‘The project comprises of upgrading pumps and control panels in both pumping stations, expanding the flow chamber connected to them, resetting the drainage tube level used for emergencies and carrying out other related works,’ said Murad.

The BD100,000 project was awarded to Zohal Construction Company. Work is expected to complete by the end of 2015 second quarter.
