AL MANSOOR: ‘156993M3 IS THE TOTAL FLOWS TO MA’AMEER INDUSTRIAL SEWERAGE PLANT DURING THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2015’

The Assistant Undersecretary for Sanitary Services at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Khalifa Al Mansoor revealed that the total flow directed at Ma’ameer Sewerage Plant amounted to 156993m3 during the first quarter of 2015. He also stated that the capacity of the plant is 2055m3/day.

Al Mansoor stated that the plant has contributed to improving sanitary services in Ma’meer Industrial Area, and has also alleviated pressure on Tubli Sewage Treatment Plant, in addition to decreasing environmental pollution by adhering to the international standards adopted in this field. The plant currently receives and treats flows varying between 1500-2000m3/day. 

According to Al Mansoor, the Ministry regularly maintains the plant at a cost of BD18,000 a month. Maintenance procedure comprises of cleaning networks and implementing precautionary maintenance by removing classified solid waste, isolating fats, grease and sludge, checking, cleaning and lubricating valves, cleaning the pump pipelines and lubricating them with a silicon layer, checking the washing system and sensors and disposing of any loose elements, examining and cleaning pumps and ensuring safety of the control panel, cleaning intake and discharge valves, checking the operational status of the tankers and engines gears, in addition to examining the operational status of the support rollers, spray nozzles, rollers and brushes.

‘The plant includes state-of-the-art techniques that do not produce odors or result in any environmental damages, and produce treated water with high purity levels suitable for irrigation and industrial purposes using the MBR technique,’ said Al Mansoor.
