AL SALAH: ‘60%
PROGRESS IN THE REVAMP
OF SH. AHMED
BIN SALMAN AVENUE IN RIFFA’
Roads Projects & Maintenance Director at the
Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Raed Al Salah
revealed that the Ministry has achieved 60% progress in the revamp of Sh. Ahmed
bin Salman Avenue; extending from Riffa Avenue in the North to Sh. Isa Avenue
in the South in Block 905 in Riffa.
According to Al Salah, the Ministry is working on
revamping roads in various areas in the Kingdom in coordination with Municipal
Council representatives; aiming to provide high quality services to citizens
and residents.
The project comprises of re-constructing and
revamping Sh. Ahmed bin Salman Avenue at a length of 835m with one lane at each
direction, re-constructing the infrastructure by removing the old paving
layers, levelling works, organizing intersections along the internal roads to
increase safety levels, implementing a storm water drainage network,
constructing parking spaces on the sides of the road, lighting, implementing
ground channels for present and future use, paving works and constructing
pedestrian pavements, in addition to
providing traffic safety requirements in collaboration with the concerned
entities.
The project was awarded to National Excavations.
Works commenced in September 2014 and are expected to take 10 months to
complete.
The Ministry urges all road users to adhere to
warning signs and instructions during the implementation of the project.
