MANSOOR INSPECTS SEWERAGE PROJECT PHASES 2 AND 3
The Assistant Undersecretary
for Sanitary Engineering at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban
Planning Eng. Khalifa Al Mansoor visited the Sewerage Network Upgrade Project
Phases 2 & 3; located in various districts of Muharraq and the Capital
Governorates. The project comprises of upgrading sewerage connections at a
length of 17km, with different diameters varying between 150-400mm. The
BD4,775,833 project is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The project commenced at the
Capital Governorate, particularly in Gufool, in mid-December last year. All
works are hoped to complete by the end of February. Up until the moment,
sewerage connections have been upgraded at a length of 2.2km, out of a total of
3km connections planned for upgrade within the project. Other works included in
the project will commence in March; located in Um Al Hasam, Hoora, Zinj,
Salmaniya, Gudaibiya, Adliya and Salhiya. The upgrade works are to target
connections at a length of 11km.
Sewerage connections upgrade
works in Muharraq Governorate are to cover a number of districts in Muharraq,
Arad and Hidd; in line with the program planned for commencement beginning of
year 2016. Works are expected to complete in May 2016, where a total of 3km
connections are to be upgraded.
The project is part of the
Sewerage Networks Upgrade Program, which is being implemented over a number of
phases, Phase 1 of which has been recently completed, while phases 2 & 3
represent the present project. However, phases 4 & 5 are to commence soon,
while phase 6 is still in tendering process.
In his visit, the Assistant
Undersecretary for Sanitary Engineering was accompanied by Chief of Project
Management Saeed Al Ghani, Project Manager Mosab Saad, the Technical Team
supervising the project, representatives from the Project Consultant EM
Consulting and representatives from the company in charge of implementation J.V
Beton & Rohrbau- Tubu.
