RECEIVES CANADA’S MINISTRY OF EXTERIOR AND COMMERCE’S INFRASTRUCTURE ADVISOR

Affairs Undersecretary for the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban
Planning Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat received at his office Canada’s Ministry of
Exterior and Commerce’s Infrastructure Advisor Hugh Adonald, where they
discussed means of cooperation between the two nations in relation to
infrastructure fields.
At
the beginning of the meeting, Al Khayyat commended the cooperation between
Bahrain and Canada; expressing keenness to further enhance collaboration in the
field of infrastructure.
During
the meeting, Mr. Adonald was informed about the role played by the Ministry;
being the Government’s construction arm and the entity responsible for
providing roads and sanitary services and projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain,
in addition to designing, constructing and maintaining public facilities and
establishments.
Al
Khayyat also referred to the fact that Bahrain has been applying the Canadian
technology in marine survey works and the production of electronic maps for a
long time. Also, Bahraini engineers have been trained on such systems with the
aid of Canadian experts.
Adonald
underlined the positive impact of providing high quality infrastructure
services to citizens and residents; explaining that infrastructure services
contribute to supporting the objectives of national development through the
optimal use of the country’s resources to achieve economic development.
Al
Khayyat expressed interest in the Canadian expertise in the field of water
treatment in remote areas; by employing a technology that depends on the marine
solar energy. He also referred to the Canadian companies’ activity in the area
in the field of marine engineering specializing in ports and harbors and
developing marine interfaces.
At
the end of the meeting, Adonald extended thanks to the Ministry for their
generous reception, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and
prosperity on all levels.
