FAKHRO: ‘WORKS MINISTRY RECEIVED 818 MUNICIPAL APPLICATIONS DURING THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2015,’

The Roads Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Fakhro revealed that the Ministry received a total of 818 municipal applications during the first quarter of 2015; from the 4 Municipal Councils, in comparison to 461 applications during the same period in 2014 (with 77% rise). According to Fakhro, 178 applications have already been processed, while others have been either prioritized or marked as in need for further study.

Fakhro explained that applications related to the roads sector targeted 95% of the total applications; with 755 applications in the roads sector and 43 applications in the sanitary sector.

Most applications requested the implementation of speed humps (200 applications; i.e. 26.5%), then came other applications with the following order:

 Road pavement applications (134 applications; i.e. 17.6%), parking spaces applications (68 applications, i.e. 8.9%), water flood (67 applications, i.e. 8.8%), opening and closure of access points (41 applications, i.e. 5.4%), paving works (34 applications, i.e. 4.5%), removal and installation of poles (27 applications, i.e. 3.5%), and finally road revamp applications (2.8%). Other applications registered 21.9%.


Fakhro also added that the number of visits to all Kingdom’s Governorates amounted to 23 visits. Also, 16 meetings were conducted, 25 visits were made to speed humps locations and 458 letters from municipal councils were responded to.
