AL KHAYYAT: ‘8 TENDERS AWARDED AND BIDS INVITED FOR 6 OTHER TENDERS DURING MAY 2015’   

Works Affairs Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipality Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat revealed that the Ministry awarded 8 tenders worth BD3,150,065 and invited bids for 6 roads, sanitary and construction tenders worth BD3,063,729 during May 2015.
According to Al Khayyat, the awarded tenders covered 3 sanitary projects and 5 construction projects. In the sanitary sector, the awarded tenders covered the BD1,031,528 upgrade of sub- sewerage stations, the BD743,964 mechanical and electrical works for pumping stations and sewage treated water tanks, and the transfer of the sewerage line in Muharraq Sports Club (Arad)- Block 240). The awarded tenders in the construction sector covered the BD179,845  complete maintenance and painting works at Ahmed Al Fateh Center and the BD799,000 consulting services, general scheme and implementation of phase 1 of the project.
As for the 6 tenders for which bids were invited, the sanitary sector included the improvement of F & E sewerage network junction in Isa Town, which comprises of constructing 2 main transfer lines and the related inspection chambers in order to improve the junction and reduce the sewerage flow in it. The construction sector, on the other hand, covered the construction of the Postal Sorting Complex in Hidd Industrial Area; belonging to the Ministry of Transport & Communications, in addition to other tenders related to the maintenance of PCs and purchase of safety clothes and shoes for the Ministry’s staff.   

Al Khayyat also revealed that the Ministry’s Cost Engineering Directorate, represented by the Purchase Department, approved 131 purchase requests during May 2015 worth BD462,828. The technical services sector approved 1 new request as part of the contractors’ pre-qualification requests, 8 upgrading requests and 10 renewal request fors contractors and suppliers.
