Following the rise in reclamation materials and stone products
WORKS MINISTRY READY TO RE-OPERATE THE GOVERNMENTAL QUARRY


As part of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning’s efforts to implement development works and projects, the Ministry’s Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat stated that the Ministry is preparing for the re-operation of the governmental quarry located in Western Askar; upon directives from the Cabinet for the Ministry to take all the necessary steps to re-operate the quarry following the termination of the previous quarry agreement. The Ministerial Committee for Urbanization & Infrastructure directed the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning (Works Affairs) to appoint an operator at the earliest and distribute the current storage based on projects supply priorities.

Al Khayyat added that the Ministry invited bids for 2 public tenders, the first of which is to appoint a company to be in charge of managing and handling the present storage; currently in evaluation process, and the second tender is for the operation, management of the quarry, and carrying out the explosion process. The tender was closed yesterday. 

According to Al Khayyat, the Cabinet and the Ministerial Committee for Urbanization & Infrastructure directed the Ministry to carry out these procedures following the rise in reclamation materials and stone products.
