IMPLEMENTATION OF A LIMITED STORM WATER DRAINAGE NETWORK SERVING THE NORTHERN & SOUTHERN GOVERNORATES


The Under Secretary for Sanitary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning revealed that the Ministry has commenced the implementation of a limited storm water drainage network; a part of pack (3C), which is to serve 16 blocks in the Northern and Southern Governorates.
The project complements the Ministry’s efforts to improve infrastructure services and solve rainwater flood issues in preparation for the rainy season.
The project comprises of extending 1.12km of main lines and constructing a storm water drainage network equipped with 36 inspection chambers, 65 points for rainwater collection and 12 tankers.
The network covers blocks 460 in Karana, 450 in Miqsha, 477 in Shahrakan, 368 in South Sehla, 523 and 521 in Saar, 469 in Abu Saiba, 540 in Dirza, 518 in Barbar, 425 in Jidhafs, 509 in Muqaba, 539 in Bani Jamra, 551 in Quraya, 752 in Buri and 1022 in Demistan. Work is underway to create tanks for the collection of rainwater in these areas.

The BD266,950,000 project was awarded to Bahrain Pipes.
