AS PART OF IMPLEMENTING THE OPTIMUM USE OF ENERGY PROGRAM IN THE KINGDOM
WORKS MINISTRY COMPLETES REHABILITATION OF Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International & Energy Studies
The Works Affairs Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat visited the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International & Energy Studies. The visit came in celebration of the opening of the part of the building that has recently been rehabilitated by the Ministry’s Building Maintenance Directorate. The Ministry’s delegation was received by Major general and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Khalid Al Fudhala and Executive Manager Dr. Khalid Al Rowaihi.
At the beginning of the celebration, Chairman of the Centre delivered a note in which he thanked the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning- Works Sector- for their high quality and highly professional work in maintaining the building; with special thanks going to the Building Maintenance Directorate of the Ministry. After that, Eng. Al Khayyat extended thanks to everybody who has worked in the project; commending their team work spirit and collaboration.
Al Khayyat stated that the rehabilitation of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International & Energy Studies is part of the Ministry’s initiative aiming to apply the optimum use of energy program in governmental buildings; implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. Al Khayyat explained that the initiative contributes to saving energy and maintaining natural resources in the Kingdom, especially taking into account that Bahrain has the highest rate of energy consumption in the area on the individual level. The initiative will also improve the internal environment in buildings, prolong their life span and improve their efficiency on the economic and operational levels.
Maintenance works comprised of rehabilitating the right wing of building 1, which included replacing tiles and roofs in all offices, renovating health facilities, internal painting, replacing all doors and windows as part of the green buildings project, fixing and replacing electricity wiring, replacing normal lighting units with LED lighting, implementing water extensions, replacing damaged health tools with materials that ensure saving water and re-distributing air conditioning pipes and ventilation holes to suit the new planning of the offices.
The visit was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects & Maintenance Eng. Mona Al Motawa, Construction Projects Director Eng. Wadeea Marzooq, and Acting Building Maintenance Director Eng. Aqdas Al Khawaja, in addition to Major general and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Khalid Al Fudhala, Executive Manager Dr. Khalid Al Rowaihi and Human & Financial Resources Director at the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International & Energy Studies Fatima Al Thawadi.
