FAKHRO: ‘JANABIYA & BUDAIYA HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED SOON’

Roads Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Huda Fakhro revealed that the Ministry is about to complete the Janabiya & Budaiya Highway Interchange Revamp Project, which is part of the Ministry’s plan aiming to develop infrastructure and the roads network.

Fakhro stated that the project comprises of transforming the roundabout connecting Budaiya Highway to Janabiya Highway into a traffic signal controlled interchange, adding lanes for side turns at the interchange, constructing part of the road leading to North Town (to be completed in a later stage), constructing Road 4077, implementing a storm water drainage network and installing pedestrian barriers.

According to Fakhro, the interchange is important because it is a part of the road leading to North Town and is also part of the Ministry’s plan aiming to support housing projects.

The BD631,954 project was awarded to Mohsin Haji Ali Group, and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and increase roads capacity in the area.
