WORKS MINISTRY DETECTS 20 SOTRM WATER COLLECTION LOCATIONS AND MAINTAINS 4 BLOCKS IN THE SOUTHERN GOVERNORATE’S 1^ST CONSTITUENCY

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning is seeking to increase people’s satisfaction by detecting storm water collection sites in all areas in the Kingdom, especially at the Southern Governorate’s 1^st Constituency in Isa Town, maintaining internal roads and keeping the balance of the social system while implementing projects.

The Storm Water Collection Committee at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning has detected 19 storm water collection locations at the Southern Governorate, 8 of which have been handled, while 1 location is in the tender awarding process and 10 other locations are in the design phase. The Ministry also handled a location along Road 201 close to Isa Town Club in Block 802, in addition to solving storm water flood issue in a location along Riyadh Avenue in Block 803, Road 422 in Block 804, Road 420 opposite to Al Haneen Kindergarten in the same block, Road 512 nearby Baghdad Avenue in Block 805, Road 201 leading to Isa Town Club in Block 808 and Road 422 in Block 804.

The Roads Maintenance Programme in Isa Town has noticeably improved roads and infrastructure services in the area; after the Ministry has upgraded and renovated 4 blocks at the 1^st Constituency of the Southern Governorate, where Road 516 in Block 805 in Isa Town has been revamped.

The project comprises of constructing new pavements and parking spaces on the sides, paving the road with a new layer of asphalt and implementing channels for future use by Mohsin Haji Ali Group at the cost of BD 3500. The Ministry has also revamped Road 508 in Block 805 in Isa Town. The project consisted of constructing new pavements and parking spaces on both sides of the road, paving the road with a new layer of asphalt and implementing channels for future use by Al A’Ali & Al Sayyed Contracting at the cost of BD 5000. Also, the Ministry also revamped Road 424 in Block 804 in Isa Town and the environs; which comprised of constructing new pavements and parking spaces on the sides, paving the road with a new layer of asphalt and implementing channels for future use by Al Tadhamon Excavation Co.at the cost of BD 4000, in addition to re-paving and revamping Road 814 in Block 808 and the environs. Work consisted of implementing a new asphalt layer at the cost of BD7500. The tender was awarded to Bahrain Motors.

As for road construction projects implemented at the Southern Governorate’s 1^st Constituency in 2014, the Ministry revamped Block 810, where the tender was awarded to Al Taweel Contracting. Also, the Ministry revamped different roads in Blocks 805, 804, 802 and 808.

2 road construction projects are planned for the future, including the road re-construction and revamp projects in Blocks 804 and 814. Work will comprise of removing the old paving and reclamation layers, levelling works, protecting existing services, implementing ground channels for present and future use, implementing a storm water drainage network in low areas, lighting, constructing pedestrian pavements and parking spaces, paving works and signage. Another future project is the re-construction and revamp of roads in Blocks 806 & 816 in Isa Town.
