AL MOTAWA INSPECTS BUSAITEEN SOCIAL CENTER


Assistant Undersecretary for Construction and Maintenance Projects at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Eng. Mona Al Motawa went on an inspection visit to Busaiteen Social Center to inspect progress in the construction and finishing works. Al Motawa was accompanied by Director of Construction Projects Eng. Wadeea Marzooq and a number of officials from the Ministry. The visit is part of the Ministry’s constant review of projects implemented and supervised by them for the benefit of different entities and ministries in the Kingdom.


Al Motawa explained that all construction works in the main building were completed, in addition to the sub-power station. Work is presently underway to complete internal and external finishing works. The project is expected to complete mid-2015.  


According to Al Motawa, the Social Center at Busaiteen seeks to provide social services such as social security, family counselling, embracing the divorced and their children, provide social development workshops to spread awareness amongst the community, in addition to various training courses that target different age groups, all of which are provided by the Ministry of Social Development in support of societal partnership.


The Government allocated a piece of land of a total area of 1131,00 m2 for the center, which comprises of 3 storeys. The total construction area is 2270,00m2.


The ground floor consists of 2 reception halls, waiting area, a hall accommodating 250 persons, hospitality room, guardroom, electricity, water pumps and parking lot. The first floor comprises of administrative offices, waiting areas, parents’ social club, training halls and healthcare hall, while the second floor includes training rooms for hairdressing, makeup, hospitality, library, resource center, computer labs and public services.


Al Motawa also added that the center design provides high quality facilities and an easy access to all facilities in the building, especially to assist people with special needs. The building design has also fulfilled green buildings requirements and specifications by providing thermal insulation on all walls, ceilings and windows, in addition to LED lighting systems to save energy, environment-friendly materials, and water taps with sensors.


The BD835,000 project was awarded to Saraya Contracting.
